Denis Basset has always wanted to become a winemaker but in his family the tradition was the flowers. One day while working on the family property, watering the flowers, he got electrocuted !!

 

25000 volts and he was still alive, a miracle! He realised that life sometimes could be very short, so he had to do what he liked the most : growing vines and make wine.

He then created the Domaine St Clair, named after the Saint who saved his life !

 

2007 is his first vintage and the wines are named after his life experiences : «Etincelle» is the sparkle, «La fleur enchantée» is his nick name, «Un matin» is the smells you get in the early morning, and «Les abîmes de l’enfer» is to remind us how hard it is to work on the steep slopes of the St Joseph....
