Domaine Près des Lasses
Boris Feigel
The Prés-Lasses estate is the result of the dream of two friends with a shared passion for wine, Jean-Paul Ribeton and Denis Feigel. In 1999, they bought areas of land situated high up in the country. On this land grows old vines of Faugère, which is the smallest appellation of Languedoc.
Denis Feigel of Alsace, oenologist in training, runs the estate with a profound respect for nature and environment. His goal is the production of high quality wines reflecting the originality of the schist soils, specific from Faugères area.
The average age of the vines is over 30 years old. The cutting of the vines, the working of the soil, the harvest and the separation are all carried out manually and the harvests are low which guarantees a beautiful result. Traditionally Faugère wines consist of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault and Mourvèdre varietals.
There is minimal intervention when it comes to working on these wines in the cellar in order to achieve the most natural expression of the territory. The fermentation is long, only from indigenous wine yeasts. The wine is then kept 18 month in old oak barrels.
This simple but demanding process guaranties generous, well-balanced and original wines.
